When the city of Gdansk needed to increase trust between the citizens and the local government, it opted for more transparency and implemented an open data programme. The development of the policy initially encountered a lot of challenges, but it has in the meantime become a fine-tuned mechanism.

On otwartygdansk.pl various relevant data sets are available regarding city finances, demographics, public transport, investment and the environment. Mission accomplished: the citizens’ confidence in the city government has demonstrably improved.
