The city of Vienna places great importance on safeguarding social freedom for all citizens of Vienna and investing for future generations. Werkstadt Junges Wien aimed to create a cross-sectoral children and youth strategy for Vienna based on the expertise of children and young people. All 4 to 19-year-olds living in Vienna were invited to participate and – in contrast to other similar projects – they were truly free to set the agenda.
Based on this input, the resulting Children and Youth Strategy for Vienna set one fundamental goal for each of the nine topics. All of the city’s municipal departments contributed to achieving these goals. In June 2020, the Strategy with 193 specific measures was adopted by the Vienna City Council.
