ECoD joins forces with the European Citizen Action Service

We are happy to share that European Capital of Democracy has been accepted as a Governing Member of the European Citizen Action Service (ECAS), with the aim to further expand our joint activities and outreach efforts.

Both organisations’ activities consist of a wide range of initiatives designed to foster democratic resilience, promote civic participation, and uphold the values enshrined in the EU Treaties and Charter. In its efforts to strengthen the civic space and civil society in general

ECoD’s NPO current focus areas are well aligned:
Participation projects enabling citizens to take an active part in decision-making processes.
– Using rapidly developing technology for promoting education, participation and digital skills.
Sustainability projects aiming to promote an international discourse, supporting citizens and cities.

Our motivation for becoming a Governing Member of ECAS stems from the strong relationship we have built over the past year. We have already collaborated with ECAS on key initiatives, such as the European Hub and the CERV Civic Health Index application to the European Commission, which highlights our shared commitment to civic engagement and European values.

Membership will provide us with a platform to deepen our involvement in European civic initiatives, enhance our impact, and build partnerships with other like-minded organizations. This step aligns with our goal of broadening our reach and continuing to promote civic participation and foster democratic resilience across Europe.
